Sauk Prairie Youth Basketball (SPYBB) Families,
It goes without saying that there are more questions than answers as we approach what would normally be the start of SPYBB registration. The SPYBB Board remains committed to exploring our options based on what is permitted by Sauk County under its COVID-19 guidelines.
The Badger Developmental League (BDL), as of their most recent communication, is still preparing for a season with games January - March; however, the statewide mask mandate and many school districts opting for virtual school may delay or prevent BDL from scheduling. We have a meeting with the BDL the last week of September to discuss the season. At that meeting we have to give them our initial count of how many teams we will have at each grade level.
Based upon what we do know at this time, SPYBB is opening up registration for the season so that families are able to indicate their interest in participating in basketball this season, should we be able to offer it safely. This registration is designed to allow easy communication with interested families, potentially on short notice, in the event we are able to begin practicing and/or competing when COVID-19 orders change. You will see when filling out the registration it lists the cost for the upcoming season and asks you to pay that with a check offline. We are asking that you not pay at this time. Please wait until we are sure we are having a season before paying. We will let you know when it is time to pay so don't worry about that at this time. This registration simply gets us the numbers we need for the BDL meeting. If the season is shortened after starting, we will be refunding registrations based on the activities/games that have been completed with a pro-rated refund.
SPYBB is closely monitoring the situation and hoping for the best, with the goal of providing quality, safe basketball opportunities to our players. We will communicate any developments.
Our teams compete in the Badger Development League (BDL) from grades 3 - 8. The BDL hosts between 4-6 weekends of games per year and an end-of-season tournament in area communities. Almost all sites are less than one hour from Sauk Prairie. Our teams also may compete in additional tournaments throughout the year. For more information about the BDL, go to www.badgerdleague.com
